Introduction
The majority of Neopachygaster species are native to Subsaharan Africa. Neopachygaster meromelaena is native to Europe, N. intermedia has been recorded from Mongolia and Uzbekistan, N. maculicornis and N. reniformis is from North America east of the Rocky Mountains, N. occidentalis is from northwestern North America, N. vitrea is found both in Europe and North America (Woodley 2001), N. admiranda is found in Israel, and N. caucasica, N. secernibilis and N. stackelbergi are from Russia (Krivosheina 2004).
Characteristics
Neopachygaster can be distinguished from other Nearctic Pachygastrinae by the following characteristics: Inner surface of basal plate of antennal flagellum with smooth dark shiny area; Arista relatively bare; R4 and R5 separate (James 1981).
